PSHE
At Carr Hill Primary & Nursery School, our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education) curriculum underpins our school values of Aspire, Enjoy and Flourish. We want every child to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to lead confident, healthy and fulfilling lives, both now and in the future.
Our carefully sequenced PSHE curriculum enables pupils to explore and understand themselves, others and the world around them. Through progressive learning about relationships, health, wellbeing, safety, and citizenship, children build the confidence to make positive choices and contribute meaningfully to their community.
We are committed to providing a curriculum that builds cultural capital for every pupil. Lessons and experiences are designed to open doors to the wider world, celebrating diversity and promoting equality. We recognise that some children face additional barriers to learning, and so our PSHE provision is fully inclusive of SEND and disadvantaged pupils, ensuring that every child has the support they need to engage, participate and succeed.
We have high expectations for all learners. Teaching is adaptive and responsive, enabling all pupils to achieve success at their own pace while being appropriately challenged. Concepts are revisited and deepened as pupils move through the school, helping them to apply their learning confidently in different contexts.
By the time they leave Carr Hill Primary & Nursery School our pupils will have:
- The knowledge and confidence to stay safe, healthy and happy.
- The empathy, respect and resilience to build positive relationships.
- A strong sense of personal responsibility and the courage to aspire towards their goals.
- The curiosity and confidence to enjoy learning about themselves and others.
- The values, understanding and self-belief to flourish as responsible, compassionate citizens.
Through PSHE, our children truly learn to Aspire, Enjoy and Flourish — developing the personal, social and emotional foundations they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.
