We want to make sure every child continues to thrive, even if they cannot physically be in school. This short guide explains when and how we provide remote learning, ensuring your child stays connected with their teachers and classmates.
When is remote education provided?
Remote learning is used only as a short-term, last-minute measure when in-person attendance is impossible, such as:
-
Emergency school closures: Exceptional circumstances where the school cannot safely open.
-
Short-term medical absences: When your child is well enough to learn at home but recovering from an injury, short-term infectious illness, or scheduled medical procedure.
(Note: For long-term health needs, we work closely with the local authority to ensure appropriate ongoing support.)
What learning will look like
-
Aligned with classwork: Work provided is meaningful, ambitious, and matches what peers are learning in school.
-
A balanced approach: Depending on your child's age and year group, activities may include recorded or live teaching sessions, independent tasks, reading assignments, and trusted external resources like the Oak National Academy.
-
Digital & printed access: We check in on device and internet access during closures. If digital access is tricky, we can provide printed work packs and alternative communication methods.
Supporting children with SEND
If your child has Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, we will continue to use our best endeavours to meet their needs. We will work closely with you and local authorities to adapt the curriculum and provide the right support structures at home.
Keeping children safe online
Your child's online safety is our highest priority. All remote learning follows our strict safeguarding and child protection policies, and teachers will check in regularly regarding their welfare and engagement.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact the school office.
