No Outsiders!

At Carr Hill Primary & Nursery School, equality is at the heart of who we are and what we do. Our staff, governors and volunteers model this belief every day, creating a community where everyone feels valued, respected and accepted for who they are.

Our school culture reflects our core values — Aspire, Enjoy & Flourish.

  • We Aspire to build a community where every child believes in their worth and potential.

  • We Enjoy learning together in an inclusive environment that celebrates our differences.

  • We Flourish by developing empathy, respect and confidence to be ourselves and to stand up for others.

From their very first days in school, children learn that we are all different and we celebrate those differences. In the Early Years and Key Stage 1, picture books help pupils explore friendship and diversity. As they progress through Key Stage 2, our PSHE curriculum and carefully chosen texts continue to promote respect, acceptance and understanding.

We know that prejudice and discrimination exist in the wider world, and we believe it is our shared responsibility — as staff, parents and carers — to prepare our children to recognise and challenge it. Through our regular ‘No Outsiders’ assemblies and displays, pupils develop the language and confidence to stand up for what is right and to ensure that everyone feels they belong.

At Carr Hill, every child knows:

“I will be your friend. You belong here. You don’t have to change; there are no outsiders — everyone is welcome.”
