We have started a new unit of work on Shape this week. We have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes and describing their properties. We’ve been doing lots of problem solving and reasoning tasks related to Shape.
In English we have started a mini unit of work based on The Day the Crayons Quit. The children loved the story and found it quite funny. They then adopted the style of its author, by Draw Daywalt, and wrote a letter to Duncan in role as another coloured crayon on strike.
We started our new topic, ‘Blooming Marvellous’. The children thought about what they already know about Plants and what they’d like to find out. They were then challenged to plant a sunflower seed. They are eagerly awaiting signs of growth and are observing and watering it daily.
This week’s Maths Star is Harry. Harry did some marvellous work based on shape and problem solving. Well done Harry!
This week’s English Star is Amy. She wrote a cracking set of instructions, which were clear and easy to follow on the topic of ‘How to Wash Your Hands.’ Keep it up, Amy!
