The children have enjoyed their first full week back and are well into the swing of things! They are remembering the routines of the class and working really hard.
In English, the children have been listening to and retelling the story of Tiddler by Julia Donaldson. They are enjoying the repetitive language and love joining in! They have written a straight retelling of the story, which has been used to set their first writing targets of the school year.
In Maths, we have been working on our Place Value unit. We have been practising counting and recognising numbers, using different manipulatives to represent them and thinking what each digit represents.
The children are enjoying their new topic, Commotion in the Ocean. They kicked off with looking at different riddles and using the clues to work out which sea creature was being described.
Lots of children volunteered for our class Green Champion roles, but George and Sapphire were appointed the jobs! I’m sure they will do a fantastic job!
In our class election, both James and Gaia were successful in being elected as Class Councillors! Again, they are sure to do a brilliant job!
This week’s Explorer of the Week is Gaia. She has been extremely helpful this week both for the adults in the room and helping other children in and around class and the school. Well done Gaia! What a fabulous attitude!
