In Maths this week, we have been working on Fractions. We were able to recognise and find ¼ and 1/3 of shapes and quantities. We have been drawing a fraction picture to help us with this and sharing equally. We’ve been doing lots of reasoning and problem solving tasks. We are getting very good at explaining including writing our explanations!
In English we have been finishing our assessments but also had time to draft, improve and write up best copies of our own dragon designs. The book, Tell Me a Dragon, inspired us. Have a read of our impressive work! In spelling, we have been revising contraction words sich as didn’t, couldn’t, shouldn’t etc and looking at the –tion spelling pattern in words such as: station, motion, fraction etc.
In Topic we have been adding watercolours to our dragon pictures. The children were very proud of their finished pieces, which are on display in our classroom. We’ve also been learning about different land features that surround castles and why these were useful for those who lived in them many years ago.
This week’s Explorer of the Week is Lilly. She has been answering lots of questions and explaining her ideas for the rest of the class on so many occasions this week. Well done, Lilly!
