In English this week, we have been working on the instructions, ‘How to Trap a Crocodile.’ We have been using reading strategies, such as VIP words. We have been learning to say the text with actions and drawing text maps. As well as this, we have been trimming back unnecessary words, so that instructions are clear and easy to follow.
In Maths, we have been using number lines to help us subtract numbers mentally. We have also been looking at the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction, using part-whole bar models and writing down 4 calculations in each fact family e.g.
23 + 55 = 78
55 + 23 = 78
78 – 55 = 23
78 – 23 = 55
This week we earned 11 handshakes and our ‘Explorer of the Week’ is Max C, for extra effort and sensible attitude. Well done Max!
There has also been a cheeky elf on the loose! Mr Carter has discovered this cheeky creature in different parts of the school, causing chaos! The children are currently keeping their eyes peeled for this naughty pest!
