This week, we have been learning to use dienes to add two 2-digit numbers when exchanging is needed e.g. 57 + 28 =.
Once we mastered this with the physical equipment, we moved onto drawing our working out. We have also been using maths words to sort problems into piles: ones that require subtraction and ones that require addition.

We have been enjoying writing our own fireworks poems this week. We have been using powerful adjectives, verbs and similes to make them descriptive. Some of these are now on display in the corridor.
On Tuesday, we enjoyed experimenting with oil pastels, chalk and smudging to create fantastic fireworks pictures!
We have also been learning about the Hindu celebration of Diwali. This included reading and storyboarding the story of Rama and Sita, as well as following instructions to create diva lamps and Diwali cards. Lots of fun was had by all!

Explorer of the Week was awarded to Mia! She has been practising her solo singing for the Christmas production and done a fantastic job so far! Well done Mia!
This week, as it was a triple handshake rollover, we earned an impressive 31 handshakes and attendance was 95%
