Our Big Question for this week has been 'how can I talk about and use positional language?'. We began by unpicking the phrase 'positional language' and looking at different exemplifications of it such as "on top, next to, near to, inside, underneath". The children worked on using this language themselves by instructing their friends on where to place construction blocks and move pictures on the wipe board.
On Friday we received a mysterious letter. The letter gave us lots of instructions using positional language that we needed to follow. When we followed them we found some treasure! The children were very excited by this and most decided that they thought it was pirates treasure. Some children wrote a letter to the pirate asking him questions such as "can we play with the treasure?" and "what is your job?".
Next week we will set about investigating the treasure focusing on how we can use our senses!
