We are pleased to report that the lighting upgrade was carried out over the summer holidays and, not only are things looking brighter around school, we will be making substantial savings on our electricity bills from now on! To begin with, these savings will help to pay for the lights, but in the long term, this money will help our school budget go further.
Last summer saw the installation of the solar panels on our roof. We have now received our first payments, so keep your fingers crossed for a sunny autumn!
Last week a group of governors carried out a Learning Walk in school, focused on the learning environment. They were very impressed with the quality and variety of work on displays around school. They also gave some input and suggestions about how we could continue to improve the environment.
This will be fed back to staff and key issues will be addressed in September. It is always good to have a ‘fresh pair of eyes’ around school.
June 2017 - Governors Go Green
The Governors at Carr Hill have a keen interest in all that goes on in school. We are now including a regular section in our newsletter to update and inform you of the work they are currently doing in school and some of the decisions the have made. The governors are responsible for keeping a close eye on how the school’s budget is spent.
This year, we have allocated money to help make our school a more ‘green’ school, saving us money as well as saving our environment. You will have noticed the solar panels that were installed over the summer. These are now taking full advantage of the sunny weather and producing electricity for the school.
More recently, the governors have agreed to installing LED lighting throughout the school. This will take place over the summer holidays and , as well as being better for our environment, will help the school make substantial savings on our electricity budget.
