What a fantastic start to the year!

During our first 3 days at school, we discovered giant footprints and a letter which explained that we had been visited by The BFG. We enjoyed putting the clues together and we were excited to learn that he will be returning again before Christmas!

In English, we have started to learn the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. When looking at the text, we have asked some interesting questions and made predictions and wonderings. Over the next couple of weeks, we are going to use actions to help us learn the story off by heart!

This week, we have been designing and making our own beanstalk sculptures using copper wire. We had to work carefully with a partner to bend and twist pieces of wire before adding la variety of plastic, card and felt leaves. We are very proud of the results!

In Mathematics, we have been investigating place value.  We have been able to identify the value of each digit in numbers up to 3 digits, recognise odd and even numbers and partition numbers in to hundreds, tens and units.

On Tuesday,  to celebrate the life of the author, Roald Dahl,  we joined lots of other schools and listened to the Puffin live celebration from the Cambridge Theatre in London. On Friday, we enjoyed coming to school dressed as a character from his books. Some of us even decided to dress in his favourite colour which was yellow. A big thankyou  to all of our parents and carers who helped us to organise this.

This week we earned  8 handshakes. A great start to the year!

Our attendance was 96.9%

Our ’Champion of the Week’ was Adwyn because she is always ready to learn!
