3rd October 2016

We are doing a fantastic job of learning the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and, this week in English, we have been ‘boxing up’ the different stages. Next week, we will amend our planning sheets, changing parts of the story by adding our own ideas. We have also been looking at direct speech. Firstly, we used a fake iPhone app to write a short conversation between two characters. After that, we wrote the conversation using the correct features of direct speech.

In Mathematics this week we have been using our understanding of place value to help us solve mental addition and subtraction calculations. We have also worked together to solve word problems. Some of us have enjoyed the challenge of our 5 minute times table speed squares. Try this website to practise times table facts.

Somewhere over the rainbow…

After the rain and sunshine on Friday afternoon, we were all very excited to spot a huge rainbow right across from school. We took photographs and tried in vain to spot the rainbow’s end. Unfortunately, we didn’t discover the pot of gold!

This week we earned 10 handshakes which was a very impressive total.

Our attendance was 95.8% and Daisy F, Korben and Isabella all earned a ‘Superstar’ certificate.

Rick is our ‘Champion of the Week’ for always being so well-mannered. He also has a fabulous reading record as he has been reading lots at home! Well done, Rick.
