3rd October 2016

English: In English this week, we have started a ‘Talk for Writing’ unit based on a suspense story called ‘Red Eye’. Part of Talk for Writing is learning a short text so that it can be re-told by all of the children. To help them do this, we have a number of actions which accompany the words as well as a visual storyboard. Below is a picture of a storyboard from the first part of our story. Can you understand any of it from the symbols?

Maths: Our maths work this week has been based on negative numbers and how we use them in context. We have discussed how we use negative numbers when measuring temperatures, for co-ordinates and some times to show debt when using money. Part of our work was focusing on strategies when calculating the difference between a negative number and a positive number.

Street Child: To accompany our topic work, we are reading the story Street Child by Berlie Doherty. Ask your child about the story as it is a book that our children seem to enjoy.

We only managed to receive 2 handshakes this week. The less said the better about that total!
Our attendance this week was 97.5%
