The children had a very exciting start to their week with a trip to Retford Museum. They learnt all about how the town built up to what it is today. They also found out about the individuals who helped to shape Retford. The children also learnt about some of the jobs that people used to do; some of which have ended up as surnames. They considered why some jobs were popular and necessary in the past, but are not needed now. They completed the day with a walk around the town, using pictures from the past to identify what had changed and what had remained the same.

In English, the children have been learning all about figurative language and how to use simile, metaphor and personification in their writing. Here are some examples:

Olivia Allen was our super star this week for her super graffiti artwork.

In maths, we have continued our work on solving addition and subtraction problems and have been learning how to add fractions with different denominators.

In topic we have been learning how to do graffiti-style writing. I think that we have some budding graffiti artists on our hands – just as long as they only graffiti on paper!

Olivia Allen was our super star this week for her super graffiti artwork. We achieved 98.1% for our attendance – just enough to gain another attendance certificate. We also gained 9 handshakes.
