KS2 Sports Day

Every year we are always hopeful that the weather will be kind to us and allow our sports days to go ahead and this year so far it has.  After some very hot days, for KS2 sports we had a cooler day with the chance of rain, but thankfully the rain stayed away and allowed our children to enjoy their races without fear of sunburn or overheating.  This year our mixed age teams, from year 3 to year 6 were named after the big cats – Lions, Tigers, Cheetahs and Leopards.  There were some very close races but on the whole points were scored consistently.

Unfortunately, despite being the fastest cat in the animal kingdom, the ‘Cheetahs’ didn’t quite live up to their name and accrued points that gave them fourth place.  It was the ‘Lions’ who took the ‘lion’s share’ of the points with over 200 to earn the first place overall.  Congratulations to all who took part.  It is important to recognise too, the work put in by those year 6 pupils who helped Mrs Smith prepare for sports day and helped to keep the races running smoothly by resetting the equipment needed after each race.

Thank you to those children and thank you to the parents and families who came along to support the children.
