In the words of Dr Dolittle, “If we could walk with the animals, talk with the animals.” Well we certainly tried to last week. The trip to Twycross Zoo was a resounding success. The children were a real credit to Carr Hill and several of the Zoo keepers commented on the quality of the children’s understanding, listening and questioning. From a teacher’s point of view it was fantastic to hear the children’s excitement and amazement as they came up close with creatures both great and small. The photographs below give a snapshot of what the children experienced.
From creating human tableaux of the rainforest layers, to stroking a cockroach, to standing and seeing the large mammals. All of the children enjoyed watching the speed of the gibbons and monkeys as they swung through the different enclosures. I am really looking forward to starting the discussion writing based on their experiences.
Last week was also sports day and saw all of the children taking part in at least one event. This is a yearly treat that I know most children and parents enjoy.
The class also received the exciting news about this week’s trip… but you will have to wait for next week’s blog to hear more about that.
Last week we collected 8 handshakes.
Our attendance was a disappointing 96.6%.
