7th November 2016

There were two big events in 4 John WIlliams last week.
Firstly we celebrated Diwali. Given that Hinduism was this terms focus for our Religious Education the children took the opportunity to look at the different customs and festivals that Hindus practice. They learnt the story of Rama and Sita and then wrote their own versions. They designed and made Diva lamps from clay. Unfortunately these hadn’t dried in time to paint but we will finish them this week. The children then worked together to make some Mathri biscuits and some milk peda. The biscuits were going well until they left Mr Haslam in charge of the frying and they got slightly over cooked.

The second big event was the election of the class school councillor. After taken nominations, which needed to be proposed and seconded, we held a hustings session followed by a secret ballot. Daniel acted as the classes returning officer and delivered the news that Liam (with 6 votes – 27%)  had been elected as our councillor with Callie acting as his vice councillor. Well done Liam.

We collected five handshakes
Our attendance for the week was 100% but when combined with the last week before the holidays dropped us to 99%. Well done team!
Our composer of the week was Amelia for her positive and hardworking approach. Also for being very polite.
