In English this week the children have begun work on poetry. We have been talking about different types of poetry and the children worked in pairs to ask questions about a text. They have also been given a copy of The Coming of the Iron Man which is the poem we will be working on after half term and I have asked the children to try to learn the poem over half term.

In Maths this week the children have been continuing their work on Time. We have been learning strategies to remember the number of days in each month and we have been continuing to work on telling the time using both 12 and 24 hour time. The children have also been looking at Roman Numerals and working out the time duration between events.

In Science the children have started our new topic, States of Matter. They learnt about the differences between solid, liquid and gases and then looked at some examples together.

The children had their last swimming lesson this week! They have been fantastic all year and they have made so much progress in their swimming. They will all be receiving their stages awards over the next few weeks. Well done everyone!

The children have all received some homework over half term. This includes spellings, learning The Coming of the Iron Man poem and using the homework information sheet to practise maths skills.

Our ‘Champion of the Week’ is Poppy because she always does the right thing, she gives 100% in all of her work and she is a good friend to everyone in the class. Well done Poppy!

We received eight handshakes this week.
