19th September 2016

In English this week we have been focusing on the Jack and the Beanstalk story. The children began by writing the story themselves and then they have then been asking questions about the text. We have also been working on reading comprehension skills and talking about the methods we can use to answer comprehension questions correctly.

In Maths this week we have been looking at place value. The children have been working incredibly hard on this and are now confident partitioning and ordering three digit numbers. They have also been practising writing their numbers correctly in both numerals and words.

In Topic the children have been designing their own beanstalks in preparation for making them next week.

The children had their first swimming lesson on Thursday. Their behaviour was fantastic throughout the morning and they all enjoyed their lessons. For some of the children it was the very first time they had been in a swimming pool and were all very enthusiastic!

Our champion of the week is Oscar because he has been making a special effort to make sure everyone has been happy and had a friend in their first week. He also took care of some of the younger children and made sure they all had someone to play with.

Our attendance was 97%
