In Phase 3 and 4 the children have spent this week learning all about the Hindu festival, Diwali.
In English the children have been learning about the story of Rama and Sita. They then had a go at rewriting the story focusing on using fronted adverbials, sentences of 3 for description and inverted commas for speech.
In Maths the children have been continuing their work on Subtraction. They have been working on subtraction which requires regrouping and they have been using apparatus to help them. The children have worked hard on this tricky concept and they now have a good understanding of this.
The children made their own Diwali diva lamps this week. The children found this very exciting and thoroughly enjoyed the activity! They used clay to model their own designs and they will be painting their work next week.
This week was also very exciting as the class had to decide on our School Council member. It began by children putting their names forward to be considered and then the class voted for their preferred candidate. It was very close but Lilly was the winner of our class vote and she is looking forward to representing our class at School Council meetings.
We also nominated two children to be our Green Champions and these will be Isobel and Oliver. They will be working with Mr Greyson on environment issues including learning about the new solar panels on the school roof.
Our ‘Champion of the Week’ is Isobel because she has worked incredibly hard on her spellings this week and achieved full marks when tested on them. Well done Isobel!
Our attendance was 99.1% Another good week, well done everyone!
