3rd October 2016

In English this week the children have been editing their descriptive pieces of writing and writing a recount of one of their dreams. The children really enjoyed this and they all thought carefully about what they needed to focus on as well as think about when they were doing their writing. They have also been practising their reading comprehension skills by answering questions about the Jack and the Beanstalk text. As you can see in the picture below; in one of our Guided Reading sessions we were reading about tigers and we used a world map to find the countries where tigers currently live.

In Maths this week the children have been mentally adding and subtracting numbers. They used apparatus such as base 10 and number squares to support their calculations. They also used their knowledge of place value to help them answer these questions.

In Swimming the children are doing really well! They are all gaining confidence and improving their technique. They are looking forward to working towards some badges over the next few weeks.

Our ‘Champion of the Week’ is Keiran because he has been preserving with some tricky work and he also makes sure he reads his reading book every night. Well done Keiran!

We received six handshakes this week.

This week's attendance was 99.6% Another good week, well done everyone!
