17th July 2017

In English this week the children have been looking at conditionals and determiners in sentences. They have then had a go at using these in their own sentences. They have also planned their balanced argument related to zoos so they are now ready to begin writing next week.

In Maths we have been focusing on money. The children have been adding up different amounts of money to find totals and they have been then using this to give change. 

In Science the children have been looking at the results of the plant experiment which we carried out a few weeks ago and thinking about the reasons for their results.

In Art they have been sketching rainforest designs.

On Wednesday the children took part in the Great School Run. They all tried their hardest and they were all rather tired afterwards! Callume even managed to complete 32 laps of the school field!

Our ‘Champion of the Week’ is Natan because of his fantastic work on his reading which you can see in his improved reading test scores. Well done Natan!

In English this week the children have been looking at balanced arguments related to zoos. They have been thinking about the pros and cons of zoos as well as if they agree with them or not. They have also been continuing to practise their spellings.

In Maths this week the children have been working on their addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills. They have then been applying these skills to help them answer questions.

In RE the children have been continuing to learn about Buddhism with a focus on symbols.

On Thursday they had an exciting day as it was transition day! They all really enjoyed visiting their new classrooms and teachers.

Our ‘Champion of the Week’ is Lilly because she was very brave about going to her new class.  Well done Lilly!

In English we have been continuing our work on the text, Zoo. This week they have been telling the story from a different characters perspective and they have been practising using inverted commas to punctuate speech.

In Maths we have been working on converting measurements between grams and kilograms. The children have also been reading the different measurements on a weighing scale and answering questions related to this.

In RE the children have been learning about Buddhism.

Our ‘Champion of the Week’ is Leo because of his fantastic, descriptive writing about the rainforest.
