In English this week the children have been finishing off their recounts about the trip to Twycross Zoo. They produced some fantastic work and remembered to write in first person, past tense, paragraphs and include fronted adverbials as well as time connectives.

In Maths we have been continuing our work on measurement. The children were even able to create their own potions using different quantities of ingredients which they really enjoyed doing!

In Science we have been learning about plants. The children began by looking at the different parts of a plant and its functions. They have now begun an experiment into the different conditions which a plant needs to survive.

On Tuesday the children went on a tour of Retford led by the Heritage Society. We started in the town hall where they had drinks and biscuits, had a tour and met the mayor! Following this, we learnt about the history of the town and visited the important historical buildings in Retford.

Our ‘Champion of the Week’ is Oscar B because of his fantastic homework project! It obviously took a lot of time and care. It was also one of the first projects to be brought in. Well done Oscar!

We received eleven handshakes.

In English this week the children have been writing their ‘hot task’. This involved writing a newspaper report about deforestation whilst applying all of the skills and techniques they have learnt over the last couple of weeks. The children did a fantastic job on this and I am really impressed with them all.

In Maths we have been continuing our work on shape including finding and using parallel and perpendicular lines. The photos of some of this work can be seen below.

In PE the children got the opportunity to do some cricket with Gareth Jones from Retford Cricket Club. The children had a fantastic time and showed huge improvement throughout the session.

The children also enjoyed eating chocolate cake which was their 100% attendance award prize. Well done everyone!

Our ‘Champion of the Week’ is Oliver because he can always be relied upon to do the correct thing and he has been trying hard to include all the things we have learnt in his writing.

We received twelve handshakes this week.
