English
We have started a new unit!  Over the next few weeks, we are going to learn how to write a persuasive text and what techniques to include.  Last week, we started to recognise some of the key features used in a persuasive leaflet and will be continuing to gather more features over the next couple of days.

Maths
Addition and subtraction is still our focus.  We are learning how to solve problems and therefore, need to apply our learning now.  We continue to practise the formal written method for these calculations and many of us will be progressing to “carrying” and “exchanging.”

Topic
Beaumanor
We had such an exciting day on Friday.  At last, we visited Beaumanor and I’m sure many of the children had lots to tell you on their return.  A glance at the photos will give you a chance to see exactly what they were telling you about.

Time Travelling
The children thoroughly enjoyed the activities in which they participated on Monday, when we visited St. Swithun’s church.  The trip gave the children the opportunity to view the splendour of the interior of the church and learn more about aspects of the Christian faith.  They enjoyed diverse activities, including learning about the meaning of christenings, how the pilgrims travelled by ship to America (making card replicas of the “Mayflower”), and also made candle holders using clay.
