17th October 2016

A much better week again as far as attendance went – we got 98.7% and therefore earned a class attendance certificate.
Our handshake total was 8 which was a reasonable score until it was compared to the winners who got 20! Come on Class 4 FM, let’s find the magic again!

We had a busy week getting the final polish on our Harvest Assembly. Lots of parents came along to watch and we were pleased to hear positive comments about our stop-motion animations and our singing in particular. Thank you to everyone who sent produce in for us to pass on..

We are learning to subtract vertically in mathematics and have experimented in creating the calculations with apparatus first so that the ‘exchange’ part of the process is a little bit clearer.

In English, we are getting closer to writing our own versions of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ which have a twist to the usual tale. Here is the class rehearsing their stories silently, with actions.

Reminders this week:
Parent’s meetings are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday next week. I’m looking forward to meeting with parents’ that I may not have met before to show you your child’s work and discuss ‘the next steps’.

The theatre trip is next Thursday and so we need everyone’s payment and consent form in before Wednesday please. Please let us know if your child requires travel sickness medication. The journey is about an hour long. Any tablets that come in for administration at school should be in a named envelope please.

Friday is an INSET Training day.

Please ensure that your child reads each night for 5-10 minutes and that occasionally you hear them read. An adult signature is always nice in their reading record.

We are moving on from the first 10 spellings on the Year 3-4 list (in organisers) and we are now looking at the next 10 words.

Times tables always need brushing up, especially over half term.
