This week we had some very exciting news. Our class came second in the PTA Coin Challenge Competition with our design of a whale. We received an edible treat from the PTA . Check out our design below!
In maths we have been learning about time. Some children have struggled but have persevered and have made good progress over the week. We have learnt about analogue and digital time, am and pm as well as drawing hour and minute hands on a clock to show a specific time. It would be useful for children to practise telling the time at home over half-term.
In PE we have been working very hard to create a dance routine showing how Roman soldiers used a ‘tortoise formation’ during battle to defeat their enemy. We have practised moving in time to the music and are proud to present a video of our routines.
In English we have started analysing the poem, ‘The Coming of The Iron Man’. After reading the poem we thought of questions we would like answering. James suggested “Will the Iron Man return?” which we all thought was a wonderful question to ask. Then we moved onto starting to create a performance of the poem. We have done the first few verses and below is a video of our performance.
The children have brought home a copy of the poem to practise over half-term, and a list of spellings which they need to learn.
This week the children were awarded for their attendance for this half-term and chose a voucher from a wide range of activities and treats including a cinema evening, a week’s entry to Computer Club or Construction Club, non-school uniform or a pudding from our lovely Mrs Parson’s. Each child has their chosen voucher and if they chose the cinema experience has a letter with all the details on.
After half-term we are starting swimming on a Thursday. Thank you very much to those adults who have offered to accompany us. Without you we wouldn’t be able to take the children to the leisure centre for swimming lessons. Please can all children have the appropriate kit with them every Thursday including a bag, towel and swimming suit. If all items could be labelled with the child’s name it would be very helpful.
Our ‘Take Five Ambassadors’, Ruby and Jason, completed their training this week and have been proudly wearing their ambassador badges. They regularly lead the ‘Take Five’ sessions for our class. Well done Ruby and Jason!

The ‘Champion of the Week’ is James for his continued effort and hard work in lessons, and also for his wonderful questioning during the English task when studying the poem ‘The Iron Man’. Well done James!
This week we earnt 10 handshakes.
