19th September 2016

It has been an exciting start to Year 3 for our class.
We had a visit from the BFG who left large sandy footprints throughout the school, and torn pieces of a letter in different classrooms.  Together years 3 and 4 worked out what the BFG was telling us.  He wants us to make him a chair and a ‘doodlestick’ for when he next visits which will be before Christmas.

Where have these clues come from?

Letter from the BFG

We have worked hard to paint some wonderful pictures of giants, learning how to paint showing perspective. We did a watercolour background and then used bottled paint to add the detail, finishing with a black pen to show the perspective. Have a look below at our wonderful work.

In Maths we have started looking at place value and partitioning two, three and four digit numbers.  We used diennes to show the value of the numbers.

In Literacy we have been looking at the traditional tale of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.  We have started to learn our own version of the story and are adding actions to help us remember it.  Children have brought home a copy of the story we are learning so that they can perform it at home for an audience.

Roald Dahl Day
We all enjoyed dressing up as characters from various Roald Dahl stories.  It was fantastic to see the wonderful costumes and props the children had.  Thank you all for your support with this.
