16th October 2017

This week in English we have been learning all about poetry. The poems we have been reading have all been to do with our topic of Holidays. We have been trying to learn a poem off by heart, the poem we choose was ‘Rain coming’.

We learnt that actions help us remember the poem. Here we are acting out the poem using the actions we learnt to help us remember the words.

Jayden S was so good at reciting his poem that we went to show Mrs Alford. Mrs Alford was so impressed that Jayden used expression and actions and remembered every word that she put Jayden in this week’s Hall of Fame. Well done Jayden!

We have also been using a question quadrant to help us really understand poems.
Can you learn your own poem at home? Maybe you could video yourself reciting it and show us in class?

In Maths, we have been learning to count in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s. We have learnt a new song to help us remember how to count in 3s. Ask us to show you! This video, and others, are on the KS1 area of the website, Count and Boogie!
We have also been learning about number lines and how we can use them to learn more about numbers and find answers to number questions.

In Topic this week Alesha’s Grandma came to tell us all about holidays in the past. She brought in some photos to show us and we asked her some questions to find out about holidays in the past. We found out that children only paddled in the sea and didn’t swim in the sea. We also found out that you could only have an ice cream when you went on holiday!

We received 11 handshakes this week.
Our attendance was 94.5%
