HAPPY NEW YEAR

In English this week the children have been looking at using brackets, commas and dashes to add extra information to sentences. We have also been looking at the correct use of colons and semi colons.

In Maths we have been multiplying and dividing fractions. Some of this week can be seen here.

In Topic the children have been continuing their work on adaptation. This week they have been learning about how animals camouflage themselves to keep themselves safe from predators.

In PE we have started work on basketball. The children are loving this and can’t wait for next week!

Our ‘Star of the Week’ is Skye A as she doesn’t always find maths easy but she has been working incredibly hard and is now much more confident. Well done Skye!

On Tuesday the children had their Survival Day. They had a fantastic and exciting day despite the very cold temperatures! In the morning, they completed team building activities, collected equipment to survive and then built shelters. In the afternoon, they got to have a go at lighting and building a fire. After this, they cooked marshmallows and dough on the fire. The leaders of our day were incredibly impressed by the attitude and behaviour of the children – well done everyone.

On Wednesday the children took part in their Christmas Enterprise. I must say a huge thank you to all of the adults at home who contributed buns and cakes. All of the children worked very hard and were brilliant sales people. As a class we earnt £120!

We received twenty five handshakes and for the second week in a row won Class of the Week! Well done everyone.
