In English the children have been continuing their work on narrative writing. We have been looking at an example to discuss and then the children used drama to convey the character and atmosphere of the story.

In Maths the children have been finishing off their work on number and calculations. Next week, we will be moving onto fractions.

In Topic the children have begun to write a diary entry from Charles Darwin’s point of view about his voyage to the Galapagos Islands.

This week has also been anti-bullying week. Throughout the week, we have been talking about the impact bullying has on others and the children produced some fabulous posters.

On Friday the children dressed up in something spotty for Children in Need. The pictures of their fantastic outfits can be seen here.

Our ‘Star of the Week’ is Aidan because he has been working incredibly hard on his spelling. Well done Aidan!

13th November 2017

This week the children have been doing assessments in reading, writing, maths and SPAG. I was so impressed and incredibly proud of them all! They all did their best which is all I ever ask from them. Well done everyone!

In English the children have also been writing an adventure story and this is what we will be working on over the next few weeks.

In Maths we have been looking at prime numbers, factors and multiples.

In Science the children have been continuing their work on light. 

Our ‘Star of the Week’ is Anu because she always gives 100% whatever the task involves and she presents her work beautifully. Well done Anu!

In English this week the children have been editing their poetry ‘hot task’, practising spelling rules and working on their reading comprehension skills.

In Maths this week the children have been working on using the short division method to answer problems and recapping on multiples and factors. They also enjoyed practising their multiplication skills by writing on the tables!

In Topic the children have been learning about light in Science and about Christianity in RE.

Our ‘Star of the Week’ is Faith because of her fantastic effort and hard work particular in maths and writing. Well done Faith!

In English we have continued our work on free verse poetry and the children wrote their new poems using the skills which they have learnt over the last few weeks.

In Maths the children have continued to practise the column multiplication method.

On Tuesday the children took part in the Harvest Assembly. I was so proud of all of the children and they gave a fabulous performance. Well done everyone!

On Thursday we had our ‘Urban Pioneers Gallery’ and it was lovely to see so many adults come to see what the children have been up to this half term. 

In ICT the children have been having a go on Purple Mash which is an online educational website that has a range of activities and games linked to the curriculum in maths, English and topic. I have encouraged the children to have a go at this at home and I have set them some tasks which they can have a go at. The link can be found here:


Our ‘Star of the Week’ is Jaime because of his fantastic Scratch project which he did for his homework. He then demonstrated this during our Urban Pioneers Gallery. Well done Jaime!
