Maths:  This week we have mastered short multiplication with 2 and 3 digit numbers being multiplied by single digit numbers.  The week culminated in a fun activity where we completed a multiplication trail to decode the hidden word that was scattered around the year group.  We all worked really well together to solve the clues.

English:  Our focus has been on developing our understanding of the story of Pompeii and we have focused on images from a storybook which we have then used to develop our figurative writing skills in preparation for creating a setting description and a comic strip next week – watch this space.

Topic:  The best bit of the week was exploding our volcanoes that we have steadily worked on and watching how the vinegar and bicarb react to mirror what happens when the volcano erupts.  As part of our Fantastic Fun Friday, we also completed some drama work where we demonstrated volcanoes erupting, mountains being created and earthquakes happening and how the tectonic plates affect these natural disasters.

All the work from our Fantastic Fun Friday can be found as photos and videos attached to the blog.  Please take a look at the learning that we have been doing.

Our Star of the Week this week is Jayden for his brilliant explanations of how to multiply 2 and 3 digit numbers by single digit numbers while doing the maths trail on Friday morning.  Great understanding – keep it up.
